On the 24th of June Relevant hosted the very first “Grill and Chill.” This was an exciting event for us, as we have never done anything like it before!
We invited different youth groups and friends from all over Frankfurt to enjoy an evening together and get to know each other. The weather forecast was not promising, but that didn´t stop us. We prayed and, with confidence and full of faith, we put up the volleyball net, took out the grill and… for two hours it was dry and sunny! During this time we formed teams, played volleyball, played some football and, as a highlight, we all learned an African dance. Such fun!
Unfortunately it started to rain. Huddled underneath the trees, we took the time to eat. After it rained for half an hour the trees could not shelter us anymore. However, instead of going home we started to praise God and to dance in the rain. It was a wonderful atmosphere and nobody wanted to leave. Two powerful testimonies were shared about how God delivers us from addiction and writes a new story.
I believe the hunger for Jesus, and the willingness to praise God (literally “in the storm”) honored God and brought Him glory. It truly was an evening never to be forgotten.
The Relevant team would like to thank everyone who was part of our first “Grill and Chill,” especially those who drove up to three hours to attend. New friendship were formed and we surely will repeat this in the future – no matter rain or shine!
