Our Promise

Voice in the City is committed to respecting your privacy and ensuring that any personal information you have entrusted to us is used and processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. These laws are now in May 2018 being updated to strengthen your rights, and give you control over the personal information that organisations hold on you.

The way we collect Personal Information

The information that we have will come directly from you, when you make the decision to become a partner with us. We would also collect your information when you make any form of donation to us, or if you register on our web site and or buy and products from our online shop. In addition, it might be necessary to use a Postal Code search engine like the Royal Mail to check the accuracy of the address we have on file. We may also collect information from the Charity Commission or any information that has been published in newspapers and articles. Your Personal Information, how we collect it

  1. Personal Information such as your title, your name and year of birth (where necessary to verify you’re over 18 years of age)
  2. Contact details including postal address, postcode, email and telephone number
  3. Financial information such as your bank details if you are a donor
  4. Whether you are a tax payer – to help us claim the gift aid.
  5. Records of your contact with us.

Sensitive Personal Data

The Data protect act recognises some information as “Sensitive data” This includes but is not limited to your religious beliefs, race or ethnic origin. We will process this data with the greatest of care.

Marketing Permissions

Our goal is to share our new projects and how your support is changing lives. This includes sending you information about our work, news, appeals, campaigns and events, job opportunities and prayer requests.

We will ask for permission to contact you via these means on the contact form.

Postal Information:

From time to time we will contact you about our working giving reports and updates, unless you have indicated NOT to receive this via post.

Telephone Calls:

We may call you to find out how you are and if we can pray for your needs. If your number is registered publicly we will only call you if we have your permission on the contact form. We at Voice in the City are committed to work with in the guide lines of the DPA as well as to respect your choices of how we use your data. Your information can be at any time updated by contacting our office.

Fundraising and Donations

Voice in the City is committed to helping the lost, and supporting the church, and the wider body of Christ. This includes among other activities, mass outreaches, training, drug addicts, the homeless and orphans. Fundraising is a vital part of helping the ministry to make a lasting difference in the lives of thousands around the world. We handle all donations with integrity and take the approach to wise stewardship of the recourses we have.

We want you to be aware that we do not abuse your personal data or your kindness to stand financially and or in prayer with us as a ministry. You are free to contact us at any time to change your personal data we have on record.

Who we share your information with

Voice in the City is part of an international missions organisation working in several nations of the world. We will only share personal information which you have consented to within our worldwide organisation. We will ensure that all overseas offices have adequate levels of data protection should the need arise to process your information. We may also share your personal information with trusted 3rd parties  where it is necessary for such occasions as mail outs. We will monitor all our information and security compliances and will have written contracts with any 3rd party allowing them only to use your data upon our instruction and with accordance with the data protection and privacy laws.

How long will we keep your data?

Voice in the City will only keep your data for as long as it is required and in accordance with statutory requirements.

Your information rights and choices

The data protection Act (DPA) gives you the right:

  1. To request in writing and obtain copies of the personal information that Voice in the City holds about you.
  1. To correct or update your personal information that Voice in the City holds
  1. To request Voice in the City to STOP using your personal information for any other purpose where there is no legal requirement for continued processing.
