Ambon – “The City of Music”

Written by Dr Rev. Suzette Hattingh

Ambon is one of the Maluku Islands, also called “The City of Music” and is one of the pearls of Indonesia. Not only is it known for its amazing singing voices but the people also take great pride in keeping their island clean and was rewarded for one of the cleanest islands amongst the 17,000 islands of Indonesia.

A Multi -cultural islands that host different faiths with great tolerance.

Based on that Island is one of the most important training academies for the police that not only train recruits for the Maluku Islands but also other places like from Papua. Lead by a man of stature, Mr Daniel Priyo in his position as commander of the police. He is also as servant of God deeply committed to the “commander of the armies of host Jesus Christ!”

We have worked together in several places in Indonesia over the years, be it Jambi, Jayapura, Manokwari and now in Ambon.

With seminars, evangelistic outreaches, special training for the academy and even reaching to the earthquake refugees. I have been privileged to minister in Ambon twice as well as enjoying the beauty of the island.
