Christ – Your anchor in the storm

Victory Conference 2025 – Mindelheim, Bavaria

Dr Gayle Claxton at World to Christ International Christian Centre in Mindelheim, Germany

Sunday 13th April Dr Gayle Claxton ministered in Mindelheim. The Local church was very expectant for the word of God and we experienced a wonderful time in His presence.

For the beginning Gayle shared the story about the first Palm Sunday in Matthew 21 as Jesus was riding a donkey to Jerusalem and people were shouting “Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!” and welcoming Jesus with great anticipation. In the next verses we see that Jesus went into the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there and turned the tables. The next verses tell how He cursed the fig tree that was not bearing fruit. After that His authority was questioned but Jesus moved on to ask about the sons going into the harvest field. We were encouraged not just to stay at the place of Hosanna but to allow the Holy Spirit to clean our hearts as we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and to cut off things in our lives that do not bring forth fruit because we are called into the harvest fields with His authority. Gayle then moved onto the topic that these things can only happen if we know the Great I AM in our lives and storms.

In Matthew 14 Jesus had told the disciples to go to the other side of the lake as He went to the mountainside to pray. The disciples ended up in a storm where the winds were against their boat. Jesus came to them walking on the water. Some of the disciples thought they were seeing a ghost and were frightened. Jesus answered them “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” So, Peter said to Jesus “Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water.” Jesus replied “Come!” and so Peter went.

Through this story we learned that the disciples were in the will of God as they started sailing to the other side – that’s what Jesus had told them to do. Still, they faced a storm on their way. So also, we as the followers of Jesus can understand that we can be in the perfect will of God and still go through a storm in our lives. In these situations fear is a choice but the storms are not.

Through this story we can see that as Jesus told Peter to come to Him, Peter took action and stepped out of the boat! All the other disciples did not do so, they were rather trusting their boat – made out of pieces of wood. Gayle challenged the congregation and asked; what are your pieces of wood you hold onto rather than the word of Jesus?

Only the true revelation of WHO Jesus really IS can make us to conquer our fear and step boldly forward in faith. Jesus said “TAKE COURAGE. IT IS I.” Let us take hold of His word and know the Great I Am, the One who is with us through every storm in life. He has assured us that He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We must know His Word to know Him. I pray that we will get the revelation who He truly is to be able to understand also who we are in Him. Through that we can conquer all the fears we may face and take hold on His Word in faith.
