Prayer

Prayer

We believe in mobilising the body of Christ into more concentrated and directed intercession through prayer conferences and seminars as well as conducting Prayer Schools with instructed teaching involving our workbook.

Prayer Nights

Voice in the City has a passion to see your area changed by the power of prayer so in 2010 we have started a new initiative in prayer. These Prayer Nights are set out with times of worship and strategic prayer and a short inspirational word from Suzette or Gayle. We are hoping you can join us! We are looking forward to see you.

Prayer School

It is our heart as you study this series that your life becomes bathed in prayer as you live under the shadow of the Almighty. Prayer is not just a prayer meeting but a relationship and partnership with the Holy Spirit that brings life and vitality. As Suzette says: It is not so much how long you pray or even how much you pray, but that you pray! Would you like to get away from having to perform or impress every time you pray? Would you like to reap a harvest through the prayers you pray? Would you like to influence the destiny of a city like Abraham? Then please join us to learn some of the keys, pitfalls and pinnacles of prayer that have been worked out in the crucible of life through Suzette and Gayle.

Have you ever wondered if your prayers truly have an effect?
How can we pray prayers that bring forth more fruit?
There are many ways we can pray, however, I believe that the way I am about to teach you is one of the most effective ways to:

  • Increase your prayer life
  • Bring forth fruit in your prayer life and the situation you are praying for
  • Pray Gods plan and vision into the situation
  • Keep direction - even when things go wrong
  • One of the most effective ways to join with Jesus in what He is praying

1) The difference blessed or fruitful and a prosperous life
2) The law of agreement
3) How do we know we have received the right scripture?
4) What do I do with the promises of God?
5) Homework and extra studies

Have you ever got up in the morning and felt just fine but later that day you seem to feel so sad and depressed? You try to sleep it off but it did not work and you wonder why you feel so "down"?

Or have you ever woken up in the night or be somewhere during the day and suddenly felt an urge to pray - you put it aside because it is not your "prayer time" however the urge is so strong that you just have to make time to go and spend a few minutes in prayer. Most of the time, you do not even know for who or what it is.

One of the best examples of someone carrying a burden we see here:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me - Psalm 23:4

This word COMFORT is the Hebrew word "nacham" which means:

  • To comfort
  • Console and extend compassion
  • Sigh with one who is grieving
  • To breathe intensely because of deep emotion
  • It is not casual sympathy but rather deep empathy - it is like weeping with those who weep or actually sighing with those who sigh (from this comes the name "Nehemia", comfort of Yahweh).

1) The impulse burden
2) The long-term burden
3) Practical points
4) Homework and extra studies

Ephesians 1:15-18

It is crucial that we as believers come to know the God who is the originator of this plan that Paul clearly declares in the most personal and intimate sense. How do we do this? In prayer - this is a very individual experience. Once we have entered into this precious relationship of knowing and experiencing God, we notice that the subject of the above passage is focused on "the knowledge of God".

In this session we will learn how to grow more and more in this knowledge and understand that the world comes to know God through the outworking of this knowledge in our lives.

Many of the points we will cover may not instantly change our lives and more importantly, our character. However, over a process of time, both through prayer and the Word of God, real understanding will be laid in your spirit.

Part 1

1) The basis - faith and love

Part 2

1) The need - a growing knowledge of God and His glory
2) The results of knowing God
3) Homework and further study

Most of us sit with a vision in our heart but do not know what to do about it. Just to sit and wait for things to happen will not change matters. The Word of God says, "without vision we perish", so to have a vision is vital for spiritual growth. However, just to have a vision is not enough - what do we do with that which the Holy Spirit has put in our hearts?

We need to learn to pray that vision into existence!

1) Faith
2) Examples of people in scripture
3) The promise of God
4) Steps to bring the vision to birth
5) Beware of trying to help God
6) Homework and extra studies

So often we separate worship from prayer, although the Bible teaches us that worship and prayer are inseparable from each other.
What prayer cannot break through in the spirit, worship will.
Although it is not often possible to worship before you pray therefore we need to live a LIFESTYLE OF WORSHIP so that we are ready to pray whenever the Spirit of God suddenly calls on us to pray.
I would go so far to say that true worship is vital to be able to pray in Spirit and in Truth.
Through worship and prayer you can learn to make God your prayer partner.

1) A look into heaven
2) What happens when we worship?
3) What happens in the spirit realm?
4) Praying by means of a song
5) Bring forth fruit through song
6) Homework and studies for groups
