The Bible says in 1 Samuel 30:6 that David encouraged himself in the Lord his God but let's just look at his situation. Ziklag was burnt down, he lost his wife and his children, the men that were with him really wanted to stone him and so everything looked hopeless. Maybe you've been in such a situation where its absolutely rock bottom and you think, "How will I survive? I see no light, I see no hope, there seems to be just no way out." Maybe you've even wondered if it's all worth it and if life is worth it; maybe that's where David was at that time.

However David knew the secret, he knew that only the Word of God could strengthen him and only the Word of God would bring him back to the place where he could actually stand on the promises of God. So he started maybe something like this, maybe that moment David said, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" or maybe he said, "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death." David started speaking to himself. You hear him crying the Psalms when he said, "Why are you cast down oh my soul."

I don't know what your problem is but I encourage you friend, take the Word, it is your only hope, it's your only strength and it's the only thing that can help you to be encouraged again. Only the word of God is light and revelation and as you start praying the Word of God in your life take Psalms, take Psalm 119, take Psalm 23, take anything and start speaking it out loud to your own spirit and see again how you are encouraged and your situation changed. I have lived it, thousands have lived it, David has done it, so can you.
