Report from Australia
This is the Report from the Prayer Watch Meeting in Blacktown, Sydney.
We are already in day 5 of the 10 day Australian Prayer Watch. These annual prayer meetings are organised by a group of churches in Blacktown and have been running since 2004. Suzette preached an open air outreach here in 2008 whilst still ministering from her wheelchair. This year she is Prayer Watch’s main speaker and will speak on 6 of the 10 days.
Blacktown has a population of about 300,000 inhabitants and is about 45 minutes from downtown Sydney. It is the “rejected” part of the city and many people who live in Blacktown are recent immigrants or have an aborigine background. Out of last year's outreach came the invitation for a City Taking Project for 2011, so this year’s Prayer Watch is already part of that time of preparation.
Hundreds of people come each evening to listen to Suzette’s teachings and to pray together for their city, for Australia and Australasia, for the nations and for Israel. Each day has a specific prayer topic and night after night Suzette builds on the precepts of the night before. Slowly we saw a “ prayer army” being formed as people got to know their place and authority in Christ.
Each evening the worship band of one of the different churches involved is taking the lead. The meetings and the spiritual atmosphere are marked by the impact of the teaching and unity present amongst these churches.
The Holy Spirit leads us so wonderfully in new depths. Heaven seems open and it is easy to come into God’s presence. It truly seems to be a complete new dimension for us as well.
The Blacktown people are already now full of expectation of what the Lord will be doing here in 2011 through the City Taking Project that Voice in the City and the local churches will conduct together.
