Blacktown, Australia (Nov 2011)

The Fest West city taking in Black town is now over and we are enjoying three days of rest in the Blue Mountains, eagerly looking forward to Orange City Alive.

We have had 160 people make decisions for Christ over the Fest West week, 160 people who can now spend an eternity in the glory of God!

These 160 souls have made the whole event worthwhile, be it the Sudanese girls, a backslidden co-worker in a ministry, and even a young teenage boy. As Pastor John Gear, a member of the steering committee put it: “A dream comes true!”

Pastor David Armstrong, who is ministering in an indigenous church, said he and his congregation have never been part of such an outreach as this before.

Pastor Les Hanson and his church’s drama group “God’s Property”, who have worked with Suzette before in Tamika Indonesia, said that this was the first time ever that he has seen so many churches working together for the sake of their city.

Over a five day period, we handed out over 2,500 of our signature roses to people on the street.

Even the hard Aussie blokes enjoyed handing out our roses to complete strangers.

We were amazed to find how well our roses were received by the people of Black Town, who were open and eager to hear that there is a God who cares for them and loves them.

In preparation for Fest West, Shane Browne, a friend of Voice in the City who is a part of the bible school of Dayspring Church, took over forty students every day into Black town to witness to people and also into the surrounding hill areas to pray over their city.

We are especially grateful for the YWAM students, who supported us at all the afternoon outreaches and also played a key part on the Family day.

We also thank Pastor Conrad Fenton for his wonderful efforts over the last six months in organising a bi-monthly prayer meeting to pray over Black town.

Without the spiritual seeds Pastor Fenton has sown into his city, we would not have had the same impact as we did.

The Family day on Saturday took place at two different parts of Black town. One was at Village Green and the other was at Mount Druitt.

The music, the drama, the games and of course the sausages were enjoyed by hundreds of people, and the children loved the jumping castle!

The closing of the Fest West City Taking on Sunday was met with a traditional Aussie BBQ and thanksgiving meeting.

Over 200 people gathered together to enjoy food and fellowship, along with a game of cricket and volleyball.

Even a heavy but brief downpour could not dampen the spirits of the fiesta, but on the contrary brought a welcoming relief from the dry Australian heat.

We will continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Black town Australia, that they will keep the fire burning and continue to seek the lost with passion.

That they see their city become transformed for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ!
